MEDIA ADVISORY: A conversation with candidates for California governor

On Monday, March 26, the USC Price School of Public Policy and NBC4 Southern California will co-host a forum with leading gubernatorial candidates at the USC University Park Campus in downtown Los Angeles.

WHAT

“A Conversation with California’s Gubernatorial Candidates” will be a policy-focused discussion and an opportunity for the public to hear how the candidates would improve the quality of life for people and communities within California and beyond.

Candidate participation was determined based on polling averages reported prior to Feb. 1 by the following polls: USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times, PPIC, and IGS.

WHEN

The debate is on Monday, March 26. The live-stream begins at 6:30 p.m. at NBCLA.com and on Facebook Live NBCLA, It is scheduled to air on NBC4 at 7 p.m-8 p.m.

Doors will close promptly at 6:15 p.m. and all media must be in place with no exceptions. As this is a live broadcast, re-entry will not be allowed. Audience members will begin to arrive at approximately 5 p.m.

WHO

The live-broadcast debate on NBC4 will be co-moderated by Colleen Williams, NBC4 Anchor, and Conan Nolan, NBC4 Chief Political Reporter and anchor of the political affairs show, News Conference.

Three Democratic and two Republican candidates will participate in the forum. They are:

Parking: TV trucks may park in spots marked with a yellow line. Other media should RSVP to reserve a space in one of the parking facilities.

Detailed Usage Guidelines

  • NBC4 is exclusively airing this debate live and no other media will be permitted to carry any live video or audio of the debate. Content is embargoed until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26.
  • Video of the debate for non-NBC outlets will be captured from the back of the auditorium.
  • Print/online reporters and photographers will be seated in an assigned area near the stage with an opportunity to take photos. No flash photography is allowed during the debate.
  • Non-flash photography via mobile devices is permissible and encouraged during the debate for use on social media platforms, using #DebateforCA.
  • After the live debate has concluded at 8 p.m., media may make use of debate excerpts, where the purpose is to report on, comment on or analyze the debate, for up to 48 hours afterward, with appropriate credit to NBC4 on the top right of screen.
  • For television, onscreen credit “NBC4” must appear during any debate excerpt and remain on top right of screen for the entire excerpt. For the Internet, excerpt must stream with the credit as described above. For radio, each excerpt must be introduced with an audio credit to NBC4.
  • No excerpt may air or stream in any medium until the live debate concludes.
  • No modifications allowed to original debate content of any kind.
  • Debate experts cannot be used for the purpose of commercial or advertising use on any medium at any time.
