PHOTO OP: USC to Break Ground on Uytengsu Aquatics Center

WHAT: USC will host a groundbreaking for its new Uytengsu Aquatics Center, funded in part by a generous $8 million gift by former USC swim team captain Fred Uytengsu, ’83. The gift is the largest ever made to the USC athletic department by a former student-athlete. USC’s McDonald’s Olympic Swim Stadium was opened in 1983 in prepartion for the Olympic Games; this new $16 million project will transform the stadium with a new entrance, diving and dryland training areas, men’s and women’s locker rooms, coaches’ offices, meeting rooms, a new scoreboard, permanent seating and renovations of both the diving tower and pool deck.
