Namir Katkhouda, M.D., is professor of surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and director of USC Bariatric Surgery. He is a world authority in laparoscopic surgery, having pioneered the first vagotomy for the treatment of gastroduodenal ulcer disease. He can address various aspects of laparoscopic weight loss surgery, including effectiveness, safety and necessary lifestyle changes to maintain weight loss.

“Bariatric surgery is a life-changing approach for qualified patients who suffer from weight-related diseases,” Katkhouda said. “Current data shows that of all the surgical procedures available, the Lap-Band may not be the most efficient procedure in terms of weight loss, but yields the quickest recovery.”

Dr. Katkhouda can be reached at (626) 590-0357, cell; (323) 442-5709, office; or namir.katkhouda@med.usc.edu.
