KPCC-FM featured USCs recruitment efforts, noting that that the university accepts students from all over the country and the globe. USC Dean of Admission Timothy Brunold said that 50.5 percent of applications for fall 2013 came from outside California. The story stated that USC sends recruiters to thousands of high schools in 48 states, and is the top university nationwide for foreign recruitment. Roughly 10,000 USC graduate and undergraduate students are from foreign countries, representing about 10 percent of the student body.
NBC News San Francisco affiliate KNTV-TV featured research by Dowell Myers of the USC Price School and colleagues finding a decline in Californias child population. Hispanic Business reported that after decades of worry about overpopulation, the slowdown of immigration has reversed the trend. Kids are no longer overrunning us.
