Los Angeles Times highlighted research by Stacy Smith, Marc Choueiti and Kate Pieper of the USC Annenberg School's Inclusion Initiative that tracked the gender and race of performers, writers and producers across the pop music charts and the Grammy Awards. Univision Los Angeles affiliate KMEX-TV featured the renaming of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as the United Airlines Memorial Coliseum, which will help fund the multi-million-dollar upgrade of the 95-year-old structure. KCET-TV published a story produced in partnership with the USC Price School's Center for Social Innovation and its Neighborhood Data for Social Change on the number of Angelenos living paycheck to paycheck and the rise of the gig economy. According to the data, the majority of Los Angeles residents are forced to live paycheck to paycheck due to household expenses. The data also shows that South Los Angeles, Southeast Los Angeles and the Northern San Fernando Valley, which have higher concentrations of workers earning less than $3,333 a month, have fewer workers with college degrees and are more diverse than areas with higher concentrations of workers earning more than $3,333.
