Moving takes on a new meaning when more than 3,000 students bring tons of belongings to campus to unpack and start college life. In a few hours, a dormant campus becomes a city packed with young scholars.

After decades of practice with this massive movement of people and things, USC has created order out of chaos. Students and their families are calmly steered to unfamiliar living spaces that quickly become home.

There’s always the unexpected on a day when lifetime friendships begin, and a chapter of life ends with a long goodbye.

WHAT: Move-in Day at USC, including new and expanded housing for student veterans.

WHEN: Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

WHERE: University Park Campus. Contact media relations for parking and specific locations. Heavy traffic is expected and lane restrictions will be in place. Members of the media must be accompanied by a USC media relations representative to enter any student living space.

WHO:

  • New and returning students, parents and families
  • USC student veterans
  • Vice President for Student Affairs Winston Crisp
