The Wall Street Journal published commentary by Ira Kalb of the USC Marshall School on how KB Home handled a profanity-laced tirade by its chief executive. "Instead of fully apologizing for his part in the incident, as proper crisis management protocols dictate, the company issued a statement on behalf of Mr. Mezger that weakened the apology," Kalb wrote. He also addressed off-duty behavior by corporate executives and the impact on the a company's brand.

Vox published an op-ed by Edward Kleinbard of the USC Gould School on how President Donald Trump's tax plan would benefit the richest Americans and cost the average citizen more in taxes. "This is a tax proposal only Jay Gatsby could love," he wrote. The New York Times (in a Reuters story) quoted Kleinbard on how Trump's tax plan negates current recession-fighting tax breaks. Bloomberg and The Irish Examiner also quoted Kleinbard on the proposal.

South China Morning Post (Hong Kong) featured the opening of USC Village and its impact on the Trojan Family. "The new village is going to be very welcoming, something like the ivory tower meets the town square. It will be a place where everyone can come together," said USC President C. L. Max Nikias. Besides the additional campus housing, public spaces and Hecuba statue, the story also focused on USC's diverse student population and quoted USC Dean of Admission Timoty Brunold and USC Vice President of Admission and Planning Katharine Harrington.

KPCC-FM's "Take Two" and The Orange County Register interviewed Erroll Southers of the USC Price School on how large outdoor events can better protect attendees from mass shootings or other incidents.

NBC News quoted Casey O'Connell of the Keck School of Medicine of USC on why the American Red Cross is a good organization to donate blood to in the case of a crisis.

Buzzfeed quoted Emilio Ferrara of the USC Viterbi School's Information Sciences Institute on why Twitter is incorrect in dismissing external research on its users, accounts and content.

Slate quoted Albert "Skip" Rizzo of the USC Institute for Creative Technologies about the future of artificial intelligence and developing emotional intelligence in machines. Slate also quoted Rizzo about the potential applications of virtual reality technology for mental health.

The Washington Post and Inside Higher Ed mentioned a police incident at USC’s Fertitta Hall and cited USC Provost Michael Quick's campus memorandum sent on Monday. CW News Los Angeles affiliate KTLA-TV, La Opinion, El Diario (Mexico) and The Washington Times noted the incident.
